Betacam video tape is the professional video tape used by broadcasters and professionals since it’s introduction in 1982. Betacam SP was introduced in 1986 and this improved upon the 1982 Betacam version. Betacam SP has been in use in broadcast centres around the world until very recently. The cassette of a Betacam or Betacam SP tape is the same size as the consumer Betamax tape, 16 cm X 9.5 cm X 2.5 cm.
