Super 8, Regular 8, and 16mm Film

Film

Format: Movie film.

Popular: Publicly available early 1923 and widely used until early 1990s.

Transferability

These films contain many precious home movies, but due to the chemical and physically frail nature of film, they can be damaged or degrade over time. The main concerns are physical damage to the tape (usually caused by malfunctioning projectors), crystallization (artifacts forming on the surface of the film possibly as a result of improper finishing), and full decomposition of the film (sometimes caused by improper storage).

We are well practiced at preserving your memories by transferring them to DVD and adding music, photos, and menus. Our specialized process will ensure that your valued home movies will last for many decades to come, preserved on DVD.

Our Specialized Film Transfer Process

Much of this article speaks of our standard definition process that we upgraded to high definition.  Most of the information is still correct, just better.  For updated information please check out our other website that focus’ on our film to HD process: Go to Film2HD.com

We digitally transfer your home movie to DVD by projecting your film into a high-definition camera that records frame-by-frame, eliminating the sliding motion associated with film playback. Our process also uses an enlarged gate that results in a 20% larger frame being visible compared to a standard projector. Our process ensures that you are able to view and preserve your memories with the crispest, clearest images possible without cropping out any part of the original frames.

We can transfer and combine on DVD any combination of Regular 8, Super 8 and 16mm film. Our processing includes the cleaning and repairing of your films. Our skilled experts can also improve under and over exposed film, apply color correction and add music and other media (eg. photos).

We recommend you transfer your Regular 8, Super 8, or 16mm films before something happens to them and the memories are lost forever. Once transferred to DVD, we can easily create copies for you to share with family and friends. We can also put your movies on the internet to share with friends and relatives around the world.

In our studio we can help to enhance your memories further by recording your narrative voice-over as a commentary and adding it to the DVD.

We have experience in restoring films, but if you can already see signs of decay, it is critically urgent that you take action before nothing can be done to repair the damage.

We also combine photos, slides, and old films into customized multimedia presentations on DVD and the internet to give as gifts! Take your project to the next level and ask us about our biography services.
