Full Frame Images of Super8 Film

What we’ve done with this capture is we’ve zoomed in the image scan to the point where the sprockets and film edge on the left and right no longer appear in the frame. However, because the image is HD and therefore 16:9 aspect ratio a bit of the top and bottom of the frame have been cropped off:

Here are some further images of the Super8 HD sample film. These are taken from the sequenced tif’s that I generated from the film capture. They are have all been converted to jpg’s so that WordPress can handle them.

First, images show the enlarged gate that is used in the capture system. You can see both the sprocket holes on one side and the film edge on the other side as the 16:9 aspect is larger than the Super8 image:

Here’s some samples of a Super8 HD transfer. The film has some fast and slow movement, including some incredibly fast zooms. The stills included here are take from the sequenced tifs that I created during the HD transfer process. All the stills and video are original. The video is processed using the Sony AVC codec at 10,000kbps (if you have a slow connection it plays better if HD is unselected).

Raising the dome on our new church

Many people were out including Archbishop Miller and many of the priests of the archdiocese to view the raising of the new dome on our new church. Another major milestone toward it’s completion. I was told the dome weighed 18,000 pounds.
