Mosaic process: C-A-M  (CAM is the process used for publishing on Joomla)

C- first there has to be a category (stay away from K2!!!) For each of Film, Video, Photo, and Audio I created a root category for each.

A- then there has to be an article; this article will be blank, more a placeholder than anything else, but because we want to be able to  switch between all mosaics this article will need to show the shortcode buttons for each respective Service category: Film, Video, Photo, Audio. This makes these mosaics all look alike and interact with each other.

M- then the Menu creation will tie everything together, uniting the article with the menu, the menu is the driving force whereby calling any other module on the page; ie. the header, everything else that goes on all pages, including the specific mosaic. The menu type is single article. Each mosaic will only be assigned to it's menu page; otherwise there will be a rocksproket error on the pages it is not meant for.

-The details tab must be finished first and then saved before moving on to the Modules Assignment tab, otherwise the correct menu page for the modules to be assigned will not show up when following through and clicking on their link in the list of various modules need for that page. If you link specific modules to other pages as well, an error will result on those pages that module is not intended for, these pages will need to be unlinked within in module manager; as an error page will show up and will try to direct you back to the Control Panel.

-So again, remember to associate the menu location and Parent (menu) Item, and then SAVE before moving on to the modules.

-in Page Display tab; DO NOT  Show Page Heading! It will already be in the headerbar, and so is not needed.

Target Markets:

Our target demographic is Brides ranged roughly 20-30 years old In the lower mainland and around the province. Tim's stylized form of photography is appealing to this audience. At this age range, the bride is the one making 90% of the media buying decisions with parents being a factor if they are directly paying for the photographer.

Photojournalism covers 75% of the wedding day with a stop for formal family photos and artsy posed formal photos with the bride, groom, and wedding party.

We have the capability to do destination weddings.

Strategy:

Weddings haven’t been a focus of Techno Monkey Media over the years, as they have been cost inefficient regarding what people want to pay for video only. Currently, John is the sales contact for weddings, but we plan to transition this role over to Tim over the next year with the intention of allowing him to focus solely on the wedding sales & marketing.  He will primarily sell photography packages and bundle them with video whenever possible. This staffing move will allow John to focus on the Dance market in coming years. As TMM grows, we will gradually increase our pricing and take on more weddings by using contracted photographers and post-editors to handle the workload when necessary.

Pricing increases will reflect the need to limit the number of jobs we take on and pay for the expense of increasing our quality over time.

We will also be coordinating commission based salespeople to present photo and video samples to contacts that they find in order to bring us more business. Printed and online marketing kits will be fabricated to assist with this.

Marketing Focus: Dance

Target Markets:

Dance studios' year-end recitals spanning the lower mainland, as well as dance competitions around the province.

In future years, expand the dance competitions in their geographical restrictions, primarily into the United States.

The "dance" division would also encompass any other theatrical-based projects.

Strategy:

Our focus in this division would be to pick up additional year-end recitals and dance competitions, and provide more innovative solutions such as the video adjudication to bring in a higher gross income.

We will need to hire contractors to balance the work load around mid-year for the recitals, and at other times of the year for dance competitions.

In future years, we realize that for business to grow, we would need to expand beyond greater Vancouver. We should research more profitable regions such as larger competitions in the United States.

Marketing Focus: Corporate

Target Markets:

This market entails larger scale corporate video production projects such as biographies, documentaries, training, and commercials.

The "corporate" division would also encompass any other income such as media transfers and multimedia presentations.

Strategy:

In the short term, we have established connections with several potential corporate projects for this coming year without much effort. Currently, John in the sole salesperson for the corporate market.

This coming year holds the Olympics here in Vancouver, which should aid greatly in securing projects to help us achieve our projected income. We have already planted seeds by attending several networking seminars focused on getting contracts for the 2010 Olympics.

Our goal is to focus on more projects of the corporate nature, and we plan to achieve this by bringing in a full-time position at the end of 2009 with their sole focus to take on larger corporate contracts. Over several months, we would move John off corporate sales, allowing him to focus on the dance division.

Service: Graduations

As of 2008, we have been capturing the graduation at Archbishop Carney for five years.  Although we recognize this as a less-profitable service, we plan to continue this coverage until June of 2011. We would like to explore this service in the photographic department, and if we can bring the average hourly wage above $60, we will re-think our strategy.

Added Dec 10 2008

John spoke to Mr. Borzillo at Carney today and discovered that they already have contracted a Photography service for this year's grad. We need to find out if there is an opportunity to take either the posed grad photos next year by offering to setup at the school or some other incentive, or taking the place of their currently contracted photo service at the grad ceremony itself.

Service: Multimedia Presentations

We're discontinuing marketing efforts for this service in 2009.

Service: Dance Recitals

We started recording our first dance recital in 2005 at Kids Can Dance (Westside Dance) in Kitsilano. From there, we have grown to take more studios under our belt to eight studios in 2008, and continue to add more every year. In 2009, we plan to have 12, and for 2010 bring it up to 18.

Service: Documentaries

Our business goal is to produce three larger scale documentaries in 2009, and double into following years.

Service: Biographies

Although we have done small versions for minimal money, we have our first larger biography lined up with a fellow named Ken Marlin, which we will begin work on in early 2009. Our business goal is to produce three in 2009, and double into following years.

Service: Theatrical Performances

We experimented covering theatrical performances. Currently, the average hourly rate is too low to sustain our desire to cover these jobs. As a result, in order to pursue them further we would need to secure a guaranteed price, which would be determined by an estimate of total working hours multiplied by the desired company wage of $60.

Service: Media Transfers

Media transfer work is generated by other projects such as biographies and documentaries, and is not a focus for advertising. A side specialty of ours in this department that we advertise is film transfers.

Service: Film Transfers

In 2008, we applied a large focus to film transfers, and are looking to bring in more business in this department because it is a nice quality cookie-cutter job. Towards the end of 2008, we put up posters in the community to advertise this service.
